Reb Elyah

For three generations, Reb Elyah Lopian was a synonym for piety, wisdom, courage, mussar, and harbatzas haTorah a man who was an inspiring teacher and role model for countless thousands. When he was in his eighties, after a long life of unremitting achievement, he longed to retire to a back bench in an obscure study hall. The Chazon Ish quoted the verse, “They will flourish in their old age … ” so Reb Elyah laid aside his plans and began a new fifteen-year career as a guide and mentor in Israel.
